Laurence-Anne
Montreal, QC
Laurence-Anne creates intimate and sensual – no wait, tense and urgent – no, hang on, ethereal fuzz-pop – well, let’s just say she creates changeable musical universes. Layers of haunting melody, lush synthesizers, synthetic rhythms and hazy textures are wrapped liberally with her deceptively light and soft vocals, leaving your mind coated by a mood that is as indescribable as it is addictive.
Her 2019 debut album Première apparition laid the foundation for her chimerical creative identity. It made its way onto the Polaris Prize long list. She unveiled the urgent post-punk EP Accident in 2020, and the full album Musivision in 2021, described as “an experiment in worldbuilding through sound,” co-produced by Félix Petit. Her third album, 2023’s Oniromancie, pushes the musical groundwork into denser, darker territory, bearing an experimental dream-pop nocturnality that gives her subconscious free reign.
Laurence-Anne has found her way into the nominations of every musical gala in Quebec; garnered attention in France; wowed audiences at SXSW and in Mexico. Throughout her free explorations of cultures and musical styles, she maintains an exquisite touch that makes her music smooth, intricate and dreamlike with a mysterious aura, spellbinding listeners with her ever-evolving musical world.
