Jed and the Valentine

Edmonton, AB

A pair of dreamers - wistful, elated - pluck melodies floating along summer streams and winter mists, twining them around lyrical bouquets. Jed and the Valentine’s Jonah Morris and Maria Khaner dated for two years before taking their relationship to the next level, which was embracing vulnerability by writing and performing songs together. At first, they did informal gigs, but family members urged them to share their talents more widely.

Within months, they released 2024’s Awake!, their first album, and were championed on the festival circuit. While their journey was quick, the songs seem slow roasted, sporting layered depth, leaning on richly melodic riffs and fully dressed moments that belie their recent emergence. It’s all open to the imagination – a sail around the British Isles to eavesdrop near Sandy Denny’s open window, a little bluegrass grazing down south, a handbag of pop moments, some urgent, some lazing along backroads, all of it simply enchanting.

No wonder 2025’s In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb album debuted in the Top Ten on CKUA. Jed and the Valentine create charming, addictive music you want more of, and you want it now.
