What began in 1980 as a modest two-day affair on three stages has grown into the Calgary Folk Music Festival’s current incarnation — a four-day extravaganza that highlights brilliant upstart and iconic artists from around the corner and the globe in concerts and our unique collaborative sessions on eight stages, plus Block Heater and other year-round programming.

Introducing our 2025 artist-in-residence, Sarah Slaughter! Sarah is a Canadian visual artist whose practice reflects her wide-open perspective and respect for multidisciplinary creation. Her work spans painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and design. Driven by a passion for travel and learning, she explores the world to connect with people and their spaces. Each piece is crafted with a thoughtful process, drawing inspiration from human stories and the textures of everyday life.
